Several current and new patients have come to us lately for cosmetic dentistry treatments to help them feel more confident about sharing their smile with others, particularly if they’re a groom or bride-to-be.
Cosmetic Dentistry Treatment Overview
If you’re interested in learning about how to improve the colour, size or shape of your teeth, here is some information about popular cosmetic dentistry treatments:
Teeth whitening: with a variety of treatments in the office or at home available, investing in professional teeth whitening can dramatically brighten your smile very quickly, often in just one visit! Because patients see visible results quickly, teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry treatments we provide at Hummingbird Dental.
Tooth-colored fillings: in-lays, porcelain or composite material fillings used in the inside of the tooth, and on-lays, fillings that attach to the biting surface, are how we restore damaged molars. They come in a variety of colours, including silver, gold, black, white and off-white. When the colour of a filling (or fillings) does not match the rest of the tooth (or teeth), some patients may feel less confident about their smile. It’s very easy for us to change the colour of fillings so that they closely match the colour of other teeth.
Porcelain or composite veneers: dental veneers provide a natural-looking solution to many dental issues, including the colour and shape of your teeth. They’re very effective if you have significant damage to the enamel on your teeth. Veneers are very thin shells that fit over your teeth to replace your enamel; they also give your smile a gleaming, perfectly spaced appearance.
Composite bonding: if you’re looking for a fast procedure (e.g. you’re attending a wedding this weekend) that can restore broken or chipped teeth and improve the colour of your teeth in minutes, composite bonding is a great option for you. The dentist will skillfully (and gently, not to worry) use the drill to smooth uneven teeth, apply resin to match the colour of the rest of your teeth and allow time for bonding. We are positive that you will be thrilled with the result!
Porcelain crowns/bridgework: this procedure works well for patients with heavily damaged or missing teeth. Porcelain crowns are expertly crafted to look as natural as possible to fit into the structure of your teeth. For comparison sake, porcelain crowns fit even better than veneers. Missing teeth can be replaced by using bridgework; a false tooth is attached to two crowns beside it to bond (secure) the placement of the new tooth.
Tooth contouring/reshaping: this procedure can correct dental or congenital defects. Teeth contouring/reshaping are a fantastic alternative for patients who are not comfortable with braces; we also have clear orthodontic aligners (instead of traditional metal aligners) to straighten teeth. Dental implants: crafted from titanium, dental implants are an excellent option for replacing the roots of missing teeth. The dentist will secure the dental implant into the jaw and gum, then fit a new crown on top of the implant for the appearance of a new tooth that matches the rest of your smile.
